益智书会与晚清时期的译名统一工作

晚清以降西学东渐,如何让中国人清楚地认识西学所要传达的意涵,选择合适的中文译名显得尤为关键,以益智书会为代表,他们组团涉足这一领域,持续30余年。在继承前人的基础上,他们在自然科学、社会科学、人文、艺术、宗教等门类均有涉及,希望通过译名统一为学校提供标准化的教科书。但无奈译名统一的难度和传教士内部对于译名问题的分歧,使益智书会的工作困难重重。
