新莽县名改署“亭”称琐议

新莽时期,对地方行政区划的名称多有改造,史称“郡县以亭为名者三百六十,以应符命文也。”这些改署“亭”称的县名与所属郡名有一定的关联,但这种关联仅在局部有效的特点也令学界十分费解,因此在依据这种关联试图复原新莽政区的讨论中,时有分歧。抛开关联,分析“亭”名县的地理分布,隐约可以看出“亭”名县在交通上的功能意义,这也许是新莽“亭”名县分析的一条新路。

A Discussion on Renaming Counties as-Ting During Xin Dynasty

During Wangmang's Xin Dynasty,quite some toponyms of administrational regions were renamed.It is recorded that Jun and Xian(counties) renamed as-Ting totaled up to 360 in order to accord with the "Fumingwen"(apocalypse).These county names renamed as-Ting were to some extend related to corresponding Jun names.But the relationship is not universe which is very confusing and caused much disputation among scholars.Despite the relationship,it is suggested that counties named as-Ting is meaningful to traffic and communication,which might be a new way to analyse counties named as-Ting during Wangmang's Xin Dynasty.
