Abstract: | Librarians, as consumers of information, deal with publishers (producers or packagers of information) and vendors (wholesalers of information). Librarians, publishers, and vendors are part of separate but intersecting systems. Each system has its own goals, motivations, and perceptions which may at times conflict with those of the other two systems. This paper examines the three systems, the conflicts, and possible methods of avoiding conflict. All examples are hypothetical. |
