The Analysis of the Monster in Frankenstein from the Perspective of Subaltern Studies

Mary Shelley＇s masterpiece Frankenstein creates a demiurge Frankenstein and a creature, the monster, and makes them as the oppressor and the oppressed to shape a sharp contrast, which therefore indicates the extreme class conflicts in the English colonial history of the 19th century. This paper will focus on the image of the monster, by analyzing the growing course of the monster, and moreover combine with the theory of the Subaltern Studies, in the hope of revealing the monster＇s hidden subaltern identity.
