以系统功能语法的相关理论为基础,简述了语类、语域和语言之间的关系,探讨了学术著作中“acknowledgements”的语类结构及其在及物性和主位推进模式方面的体现特点,以及这些特点与语篇语类和语域以及作者交际意图的关系,旨在证明及物性和主位推进模式的选择和语篇语类及语类纲要式结构的各个阶段之间有着密不可分的关系,从而说明语言是一个社会符号体系,语类在本质上也是一个社会符号体系。

A Study of the Relationship Between Genre, Transitivity and Thematic Progression of Acknowledgements

Based on the relevant theories of systemic-functional grammar, this paper mainly discusses the relationship among genre, register, transitivity, and thematic progression through the analysis of "acknowledgements" in academic workings. It is found that this type of text possesses its own specific generic structure andspecial realizational features of this structure in terms of transitivity and thematic progression and that thesefeatures are closely related to the author's purposes in communication. The final aim of this study is todemonstrate that language is social semiotic system and genre thus, essentially, is also a social semiotic system.
