The use of HEGIS data in higher education research

The Higher Education General Information Survey (HEGIS) is often used in higher education research. This study describes some of the errors associated with the use of HEGIS data, provides a comparison between the 1980 HEGIS and Census reports of college enrollment, and suggests a more cautious use of the HEGIS data.
