Institution: | Adam R. Nelson is Assistant Professor of Educational Policy Studies and History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has published Education and Democracy: The Meaning of Alexander Meiklejohn, 1872–1964;(Madison: University of Wisconsin Press, 2001) and The Elusive Ideal: Equal Educational Opportunity and the Federal Role in Boston's Public Schools, 1950–1987 (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 2005). He is currently writing a book titled Nationalism, Internationalism, and the Origins of the American University.
