Abstract: | The paper briefly reviews the current debate about consecutive and concurrent initial training courses and describes the new ‘2 + 2’ course at Loughborough. It analyses replies to a questionnaire examining students’ reasons for choosing either the ‘2+2’ or the ‘3 + 1’ (PGCE) course, and discusses factors influencing student choice. In the light of this analysis some general conclusions are drawn. |
