尊称“您”的产生过程

“您”字最早见于南宋、金时期（12世纪）文献，是“你们”的合音，表示第二人称复数，带有北方色彩。向南传播过程中，“您”开始表示单数，并且逐步占据优势，出现单复数混用状态。从元代开始，“您＋亲属词”表示他称带有尊敬意义，并且获得社会一致认同。明清时期，“您”从“您＋亲属词”结构中脱落，开始分担尊敬意义。至迟在清末，“您”表示尊称形成。民国以后，“您”表示尊称在北京话中使用就很常见了，直至发展为现代汉语普通话中表示第二人称尊称的代词。

The Origin of Chinese V-address
