“胸襟以为基”与“文以气为主”——以古释古之一例

叶燮的“胸襟以为基”与曹丕的“文以气为主”有着精神上的高度一致。曹氏所言之“气”的内涵不可能仅是对作者某几个方面素质的片面强调，而是对其综合心智结构的高度概括。叶燮与曹丕虽有一论纯粹之诗一论广义之文的区别，但在强调作者主观因素这一点上却如出一辙，他所推重的“胸襟”也正是一个兼括了“才、胆、识、力”与道德品性、世界观等因素的综合体。
