Chapter 2 Demographic Factors Associated with Bulimia in College Students:

Recently, multirisk factor and multidimensional models have been proposed to explain the complexity and diversity of bulimic symptomatology. According to the multirisk factor model, bulimia represents the final common pathway of a number of sociocultural, familial, genetic and psychological factors interacting with one another. This paper places demographic variables within the context of such a model, examining the role of the various demographic variables in the development of bulimia. Implications for clinical practice and suggestions for future research are also explored.
