| Abstract: | The translation of the illustrative examples in English-Chinese dictionaries belongs to speech translation, bearing different characteristics and claims from that of language translation. It should provide more detailed information about the headword, such as its added meaning in specific contexts, the cultural difference between the East and the West, and the relevant pragmatic information. The translation of examples should also be vivid and flexible. |
