A Talk on the Translation of Writings in Classical Chinese into Modern Chinese

Writings in classical Chinese Contain rich and excellent cultural heritage of the Chinese people. To put them into exact and smooth vernacular, we must have an exact understanding of the meanings of the words, phrases and sentences in classical Chinese, adhere to the principlp of "faithfulness, expressiveness and smoothness", combine literal translation with free translation with the stress on the former. To be specific, we must stick to the methods of word for word, alteration, amplification, deletion, adjustment and reservation.
