Time as Space Metaphor in English and Chinese

Metaphor,under the framework of cognitive linguistics,is fundamentally conceptual rather than linguistic in nature.TIME AS SPACE METAPHOR is a universal tendency,which reflects the general process of human conceptualization of time.At the conceptual level,both English and Chinese have the same conceptual mapping even though there are some differences between them in terms of linguistic instantiations of that conceptual metaphor.
