A Comparative Analysis of the Theme of Jinpingmei and Decameron

Both Jinpingmei and Decameron have the common theme of rebeling against and disintegrating the main current culture of the feudal society. To a certain extent, the two authors show some similarities and differences in coming to the theme. And at this point a contrast can be made . Specifically speaking, from the point of view of criticism, Jinpingmei starts with women,deeply depressed in feudal ethical society wherease Decameron starts with monks and priests distorted in religious society. Both the authors set up value centers in their works with transcendental consciousness and from the standpoint of folk people. Furthmore, in terms of deeper cultural inside information, Jinpingmei manifests deep self-examination consiousness while Decameron manifests open-minded consciousness.
