江南地区文明初期发展迟滞原因探析

新石器时代的文化曾在全国各地都获得了较大发展,但是到了新石器时代晚期,著名的石家河文化、良渚文化却在发展的高峰期出现了停滞或倒退,此后江南地区文明的发展一度停滞不前,而中原地区的文明则一直持续发展,这种现象的成因学术界众说纷纭。江南地区过于优越的自然地理环境和复杂的地形水系格局是导致这一地区文明初期发展迟滞的根本原因。

An Exploratory Analysis of the Reasons for Initial Slow Growth of Civilization in Southern China

Neolithic civilization used to gain great growth i n diffe rent parts of the country. However, down to the late neolithic age, the eminent civilization of Shijiahe and that of Liangzhu assumed stagnation or even retrogr ession at the pinnacle of their growth. Since that, the growth of civilization i n southern China once stayed at a standstill whereas the civilization in the Cen tral Plains continued to develop steadily. The reasons for this historical pheno menon has remained disputable in the academic world. Through careful investigati on, this paper comes to think that the essential reasons for the initial slow gr owth of civilization in this region lie in its superior physiographic environmen t and complicated distribution of its river system.
