| Abstract: | The death of Lincoln deeply touched great American poet,Walt Whitman,and inspired him to create his most superb elegy When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd.The poem,in the light of the trinitarian symbole:Lilacs,Venus and Thrush,expressed the poet's keen condolences and embodied his conception upon life and death,a theme he frequently conveyed in other poems. |
