On Study and Practice of "the Whole Language Approach"

In higher education of English,priority should be given to training highly qualified talented personnel with competence of automatic study,sporadic thinking and creativity.We should adhere to scientific education concept of putting students first and taking teachers as the leading force.The "Whole Language Approach" has provided us with a feasible strategy to realize this goal.In this paper,the writer introduces the basic characteristics and application principles of the "Whole Language Approach",probes into the application of the "Whole Language Approach" in teaching college English with the purpose of more effectively improving English teaching quality and developing language ability and communication ability of students.
