| Abstract: | Proverb is a component of national culture,especially an important constituent of human language.Thus,understanding and mastering proverb can not only enrich our linguistic knowledge,but also help express ourselves more effectively and colorfully.This article sets out to distinguish English proverb and English set phrase.The aim is to reveal the nature of English proverb and analyze its linguistic characteristics:colloquialism,brevity,vividness,compact structure and beautiful rhyme. |
