师陀是我国现当代乡土小说的重要作家之一。他以感伤抒情的笔调描写了三四十年代乡镇世界的人和事。他的小说散而不淡 ,沉郁感伤 ,舒缓自如 ,深刻揭示了旧时代下层平民的可悲命运。他的创作不属于任何流派 ,但自始至终有一种沉实而不高亢的主调。这既是作者的局限性 ,也是师陀区别于同时代其他作家的重要特点和个性

The Artistic Style of Shi Tuo's Novel

Shi Tuo is one of the important modern provincial novelists. He told the stories of local towns from 1930s to 1940s in a sorrowful and lyric style and subtly delineated the tragic lives of lower class in old times. Though his creation does not belong to any school, there is a steady keynote in his novels from beginning to end. This is the novelist's limitation and his individual character different from other novelists as well.
