清前中期温州造船业

Wenzhou Shipbuilding Industry in the Early and Middle Period of the Qing Dynasty

Located in the coastal area of East Sea, Wenzhou, with the advantage of sea, launched its port economy very early. Being an important part of the marine economy, Wenzhou shipbuilding industry experienced ups and downs with the rise and fall of Wenzhou ports. In the early and middle period of the Qing Dynasty （before the Opium War）, the national ocean policy was complex and changeable. After the abolishing of ＂ban on foreign trade＂ conducted by Emperor Kangxi, Wenzhou ports regained prosperity, Wenzhou shipbuilding industry recovered and created a unique characteristic in the scale, type and quality of shipbuilding industry. The development of shipbuilding industry in Wenzhou exerts a great influence on the development of modern shipbuilding industry and technology.
