Introduction Korea Institute of Sport Science (KISS,formerly named as Korea Sport Science Institute:KSSI) was established on December 29th,1980 to perform research and provide support for better performance of the national athletes.KISS had clear objective of supporting scientifi c training of national athletes for successful hosting of 1986 Asian Games and 1988 Olympics,both were to be held in Seoul,Korea. The objective was successfully achieved with strong support from the government.

Overtraining/Overreaching:Leptin and Ghrelin in Male Recruits

Background In many sports,athletes with low body weight and/or low body fat content have a distinct advantage over their opponents.Such an advantage can easily turn into a noticeable disadvantage because low body weight and 'leanness' may also be associated with health problems.Anorexia Athletica(AA) is associated with leanness and thinness in female and male sports athletes despite the fact that these athletes are often very successful.High-competitive athletes often restrict their caloric intake and/or increase their energy expenditure to maintain a low body mass and/or a low amount of body fat.Several metabolic and endocrine disturbances are often the result of prolonged energy restriction.These disturbances can be detected by alterations in the hormonal profile(low levels of leptin,increased levels of ghrelin) and in changes in body composition.

Dear editor,In a recent longitudinal metagenomic study of the gut microbiome in elite athletes,1 we conducted multiple, repeated sampling from runners in the 2015 Boston Marathon as well as sedentary controls approximately 1 week prior to and 1 week after marathon day. We also analyzed an independent cohort of endurance athletes, including Olympic-caliber rowers。

This paper considers that athlete human capital possess heterogeneity and implicit human capital,which include implicit knowledge,ability,experience,athletic sprits and social network,exerts a great influence on elite retired athletes' career transition as well as the sustainable development of competitive sports in China. This paper defined athlete implicit human capital,and analyzed the problems in their career transition from knowledge management perspective. By analyzing concerned literatures and typical cases of elite retired athletes' successful transformation ,this paper concludes five influencing factors in the process of elite retired athlete implicit human capital transition,and builds the transformation mechanism of implicit human capital for elite retired athletes.

The heart rate measurement and regulation of shooters play an important role in shooting training and performance. The paper expounds the need for the developing intelligent monitoring system of contest psychological state for shooters ,the main components,the technical implementation and the innovation of the system. The system has the ability of real-time monitoring ,storing and analyzing shooters' heart rate.The system can help the coaches monitor and adjust shooters' mental state. In addition,we can make the system perfect from improving the number of re－al-time monitoring objects and doing more detailed data analysis.

Sex differences in injury rates in team-sport athletes: A systematic review and meta-regression analysis

Background:Team-sport players have a particularly high injury risk.Although female sex is considered a risk factor,it is still unknown whether female and male team-sport players,in fact,differ in their injury rates.We aimed to compare injury rates between female and male players by systematically reviewing and meta-analyzing injury surveillance studies of both sexes in order to evaluate sex-specific differences in team-sport injuries.Methods:Studies that prospectively collected injury data for high-level female and male players(age≥16 years)in basketball,field hockey,football(soccer),handball,rugby(union and sevens),and volleyball were included.Two reviewers(AZ and ALR)independently assessed study quality and extracted data for overall,match,training,and severe injuries(>28 days’time loss)as well as data regarding injury locations and types.Incidence rate ratios(IRRs)were pooled in a meta-analysis,and meta-regression analysis was performed when 10 or more studies were available.Results:Of 20 studies,9 studies reported injury data from football,3 studies from rugby,3 studies from handball,1 study from basketball,1 study from field hockey,2 studies from volleyball,and 1 study from basketball and field hockey.For overall injuries,the pooled IRR=0.86(95%confidence interval(95%CI):0.76-0.98)indicated significantly more injuries in male than in female players.For injury location,the pooled IRR showed higher injury rates in male athletes than in female athletes for upper extremity,hip/groin,thigh,ande foot injuries.Female players had a significantly higher rate of anterior cruciate ligament injuries(IRR=2.15,95%CI:1.27-3.62)than male players.No significant sex-specific differences in IRR were found for match,training,severe injuries,concussions,or ankle sprains.Conclusion:Our meta-analysis provides evidence for sex-specific differences in the injury rates in team sports.Further epidemiological studies including both sexes in sports other than football are needed in order to strengthen the evidence.

纵跳落地动作地面反作用力计算机仿真方法的研究

It is significant to investigate the landing load suffered by high-level athletes for evaluating the training effect and prevention of injury. Simulation can get the ground reaction force （GRF）that can't be gotten by force platforms,but the accuracy of data needs to be confirmed. The study investigated the similarity and characteristic values of landing force curves got by simulation and force platforms to verify the accuracy and reliability of Lifemod simulation. Results showed that the CMCs of GRF curves gotten by simulation and force platforms were all about 0.90 representing the high correlation. The difference value of maximum GRF was 1.4% of the maximum GRF got by force platforms,and the time difference of getting the maximum GRF was 0.002s.Conclusion：Accurate data matching the real value could be got by simulation. It is feasible and accurate to get the GRF of national level athletes in the training and match.

Diabetes,mainly type 2 diabetes(T2D),is a major cause of blindness,kidney failure,heart attack,stroke,and lower limb amputation.Worldwide,the number of people with diabetes rose from 108 million in 1980 to 422 million in 2014 and further to 537 million in 2021,and the prevalence has been rising more rapidly in low-and middle-income countries according to a report by the World Health Organization1 and the latest data from the International Diabetes Federation.2 The positive role of physical activity(PA)and exercise as a prevention and treatment medicine for T2D has been well documented,and both the American College of Sports Medicine(ACSM)and the American Diabetes Association(ADA)have issued position statements on the effects of PA and exercise on diabetes.     

A Study on Exploring Athletes Mental Potential in the Competition of Olympic Games

There are competitions of severity and tremendous pressures in Olympic Games, full of unpredictability and cruelty, which is mainly because the Olympic Games give athletes a lot of special psychological load, such as athletes' special interests and prestige, the special effect of mental magnetic field in competitions, special sources of stress, the special psychological pressure transmission system, the special con version of roles, the scenes caused by special personality of greed and fluke, and so on.     

A clash of fundamental assumptions: Can/should we measure physical literacy?

The special issue of the Journal of Teaching in Physical Education (JTPE)~1 on physical literacy (PL) has provided much needed information about measuring and assessing student learning in terms of the well-defined and yet abstract concept.Multiple authors have elaborated from diverse educational and psychometric perspectives on the development of the construct,the measurement model,and the assessment of the construct.In this attempt,many issues associated with the conception of PL were clarified and insightful information and arguments were brought forward.In this regard,the special issue has moved our understanding of the concept one step further.More importantly,it points to a possibility to actualize the teaching of the concept in physical education (PE).

1,994 Enter Emblem Design ContestBeijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games has received 1, 994 application designs for the Games' emblem by October 8, when the three-month works collecting of the Olympics emblem design competition ended.Nearly 89 percent of the works are from China, counting for 1,766. Foreign designers from Asia, Europe, America and Oceania also took an active part in the competition for their 228 design works.Among overseas competitors are some top design companies in the world who have taken part in the emblem design for 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympics, 1998 and 2002 Winter Olympics and 2002 World Cup.
