| Abstract: | While scholars from both the West and the East,studying za ju in Yuan Dynasty poetic drama,asserted inflexibly in light of the western definition of tragedy,that there were no tragic contexts in Chinese dramas,WANG Guo-wei,in his the History of Dramas in Song and Yuan Dynasties,put forward opposite ideas that there were tragedies in those dramas.His ideas were characteristic of China and of great historic significance. |
