Abstract: | The Scarlet Letter tells us a tragical story of love and hatred among the triangle relationships of Hester, her former husband Chillingworth and her lover, the minister Dimmesdale. Through the tragedy, the writer sculptures Hester as an ideal image of humanism and strongly denounces Puritanism which shackles the human nature. We could deduce from it that love is the human nature and nothing including the puritan law or morality could suppress it. |
